More Photos

There is never a shortage of these babies! It seems like every month I take a few hundred more. These ones are from last year, and I tried a few new things when taking these. I tried out some night photos with artificial light (the lilies), and I tried out some water drop photography (the purple photo that is third). Happy Tuesday!

Hello from Seattle

Hello, after three years I am finally back in Seattle! The image that I added below was made for a contest, but it didn't get any votes! I spent a lot of time on it (I am out of practice), but it didn't end up looking that great in the end, especially the text :(

Summer Photos

Just for Fun

Another update so soon? I got a bunch of photos ready to post this week, and I decided to add all these fun ones first. One is a photo of the Wall-E cake that I got for my birthday this year. In the movie Wall-e's job is to compact garbage into bricks, and I think that is what those brown squares are suppose to be (but that is not what they look like).

I've been trying to embed a gallery into this site so it will be faster to add images (and so I won't have to make thumbnails for everything), but it hasn't been working! I am pretty new to the whole php thing (I've only used php once for an email form on this site), and I want to have a gallery the next time I change this layout. I have been trying Gallery2 (http://gallery.menalto.com/), but I think I'll have to find something else because I can't get it to work.

Vector Banners

I didn't realize it until I started writing this, but it looks like I ended up with a vector theme for this post! The first banner is kind of simple. It is almost completely made of vectors with the brushes also being created from vectors. The second has a little more texture to it, and I think I like it more than the first. Vectors made in Illustrator.

Kitty Drawing

I made this image to use for my deviantART id. It took about three days, and that is really fast for me (It usually takes me a long time to draw anything)! I had my last id since I started my deviantART account, so it was definitely time for a change! For this new id I had a lot of inspiration from a cute little kitty that was sleeping in my room. I think it turned out cute!

New Photography! (again)

These are some more Turkey photos! Only a few of them are from Istanbul :) Some of these still may need some work, but I have so many I just wanted to get through some of them. I like most of these, but one of my favorites is the graffiti one. My sister and I found this door in a back alley at night in Antalya.

New Photography!

These are my new photos from Turkey! They were all taken in Istanbul; which was the first stop on my trip. I have a whole bunch to go through, and I'll probably skip around a bit or I'd be stuck with Istanbul photos for a while!

I have still been working a lot on this new site! All the photos on my site have been uploaded to my new server, but I still have all my other images to add. I was using photobucket to host all my images, because my site has always been hosted and I didn't want to use too much space. Uploading the photos isn't hard, but changing the links to every image on all the pages has been tedious! Also, I've been working on a bit of a new layout for my digital art area (I want to use a php gallery eventually, but I am just figuring those out!). I also had the URL to my last site on a bunch images so I'll have to re-upload them without the URL (maybe I'll add my new site url to them?). I just wanted to explain so people wouldn't be confused about seeing the URL from my old site on some of my images!

Photo editing before/after

Here are some before/after pictures that show some of the extreme editing that I have done to a few of the photos in my gallery. I will be making a new area in the photography section of my art gallery to put these in, and it should be up in a few days! I do not normally edit my images in such a drastic way, but with these images I felt that they were not useable in their original state and I thought that they had potential.

New domain! 1000wordsart.com

Wow! I am so happy! Last week I took the big plunge into getting my own domain for my art site. This art site has come a long ways from when I first opened it in July 2004 at Opendiary.com. I kind of wanted to go with a brand new name, but I couldn't think of anything meaningful; just trendy names that I might get tired of. I ended up keep my 1000words name because the saying "a picture is worth 1000 words" is timeless, and it is so fitting of an art site.

My site is back up and hopefully completely functional. I will be adding new art, but I also have a lot to do behind the scenes. All my art is hosted at photobucket, and now that I have unlimited storage with my host I want to take advantage of that! I also wanted to take advantage of some of the galleries and add-ons offered by my host, but those won't be added until I make a new layout!

Skippin' Town

I'll be on vacation through the beginning of October. Next update will probably be photos, because I'll be taking a lot of pictures while I am gone. It has been a few years since I had a big vacation, so I am really excited!
